NRTX-1001 is a GABAergic inhibitory interneuron therapy derived from human stem cells, specifically from the medial ganglionic eminence. It is designed to be administered into the brains of patients with drug-resistant mesial temporal lobe epilepsy (mTLE) to modulate overactive neural networks. This innovative approach is expected to be a groundbreaking alternative to traditional resective surgery, which involves the removal of brain tissue, and is anticipated to significantly improve patients' quality of life.
