GROWTH CURVE PHASES
- Eclipse period — Virus uncoats; no infectious particles recoverable from lysed cells.
- Maturation — New virions assemble intracellularly but are not yet released.
- Burst / Release — Mature virions released by lysis or budding. Burst size = PFU per cell.
- One-step: High MOI (≥5), synchronous infection, single cycle. Multi-step: Low MOI (<1), multiple rounds.
