Tool Guide

Definition

Unit converter — Instantly convert between units across 9 categories commonly used in biology and chemistry: length, volume, mass, molar concentration, mass concentration, temperature, pressure, radiation, genomic length, and flow rate.

Purpose

(1) Convert protocol units (e.g., 10 µL) to your pipette range (mL) instantly (2) Convert published concentrations (nM ↔ µg/mL) to determine reagent amounts (3) Compare NGS read/genome lengths (bp ↔ kb ↔ Mb) (4) Radioisotope handling (Ci ↔ Bq), HPLC flow rate (mL/min ↔ µL/hr)

How to Use

① Choose category (Length / Volume / Mass / Molar / Mass Conc / Temperature / Pressure / Radiation / Genomic / Flow Rate) ② Enter input unit and value (e.g., 500 nM) ③ Choose output unit (e.g., µM) ④ Result auto-displays (0.5 µM) Molar ↔ mass concentration (nM ↔ µg/mL) requires MW input. Temperature uses non-linear conversion between °C/°F/K.

Examples

Example 1) A paper specifies siRNA transfection at 50 nM. With siRNA MW ≈ 13,300 g/mol, what is µg/mL? → 50 nM × 13,300 / 10⁶ = 0.665 µg/mL Example 2) Convert human genome 3 Gb to bp → 3 × 10⁹ bp Example 3) HPLC flow 0.5 mL/min → µL/hr → 500 µL/min × 60 = 30,000 µL/hr
