- Pulmonary hypertension is a group of diseases characterized by elevated blood pressure in the pulmonary arteries compared to normal levels, including pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH).
- It may be associated with heart disease, lung disease, sleep apnea, thromboembolism, connective tissue disease, certain liver and hematologic diseases, and exposure to specific drugs or substances; in some cases, the cause is unknown.

- Pulmonary hypertension cannot be confirmed by symptoms alone; test results must be interpreted in conjunction with the underlying disease and cardiac and pulmonary function.
- Management is carried out by combining lifestyle adjustments, physical activity and pulmonary rehabilitation, medication, oxygen therapy, and necessary procedures, tailored to the cause of pulmonary hypertension and the individual's condition.
- Current treatment is mostly focused on reducing symptoms and burden and managing the condition rather than achieving a complete cure, with choices varying depending on the cause and severity.
