Definition

Vector Map Viewer — From a plasmid sequence (FASTA/GenBank), renders a circular or linear plasmid map auto-annotated with ori, selection markers (AmpR/KanR/PuroR), MCS, promoters (CMV/EF1α/U6), tags (His/FLAG/HA), polyA, restriction sites. A free alternative to SnapGene/Benchling.

Purpose

(1) Inspect vector backbone structure during cloning planning (2) Visualize elements in plasmids from Addgene, etc. (3) Generate updated maps after cloning (e.g., post-insert integration) (4) Produce shareable figures for lab plasmid documentation

How to Use

① Input sequence (FASTA / GenBank / SnapGene .dna or raw DNA) ② Choose view (Circular / Linear) ③ Options: • Features to display (CDS, promoter, ori, marker, etc.) • Color theme • Restriction enzymes to mark ④ Output: • Interactive map (zoom, click → feature details) • PNG/SVG export • GenBank file export (Currently coming-soon)

Example) Input pLKO.1-puro (7,052 bp, Addgene #8453) sequence → Auto-generate circular map → Annotations: U6 promoter, shRNA MCS (AgeI/EcoRI), PGK promoter, PuroR, ori, AmpR, LTR → AgeI cut site shown → confirm shRNA cloning location → Export PNG → attach to lab notebook
