Process Yield & Mass Balance Calculator
Calculate step product yield, closure, unaccounted amount, and overall process yield.
Process yield & mass balance results
Enter process steps.
Overall serial closure assumes the first input, final product, and every step loss share one conserved basis with no intermediate material additions. This does not replace batch records, expected-yield ranges, deviation investigation, or release decisions.

Definition
Process Yield & Mass Balance Calculator — For each serial process step, use input, desired-product output, and separately accounted loss to calculate step yield, mass-balance closure, and unaccounted amount, plus overall yield from first input to final output.
Purpose
(1) Cross-check actual yield at process stages (2) Reconcile product, accounted loss, and unaccounted material (3) Summarize overall yield across a serial process (4) Detect step-continuity mismatches early
How to Use
① Choose the amount unit shared by all steps. ② Enter step, input, product output, accounted loss on each line. ③ Review step yield, closure, and overall values. ④ If continuity is flagged, check sampling, additions, dilution, or a basis change. Overall closure is meaningful only on a serial conservation basis without intermediate material additions.
Examples
Example) Capture: input=100, product=80, accounted loss=18 Polish: input=80, product=60, accounted loss=15 → step yield=80%, 75% → step closure=98%, 93.75% → overall product yield=60%, serial closure=93%, unaccounted=7 Expected-yield ranges and the need for deviation investigation are not decided automatically.
