Chromatography Capacity Calculator — Calculates residence time, load CV, target mass, and mg/mL-resin loading from bed volume and load conditions. Optional diameter, flowthrough/elution mass, experimental DBC, and working utilization provide linear velocity, separate capture/overall/elution recovery, and resin sizing.
Purpose
(1) Cross-check load volume/mass and resin loading, (2) convert residence time and linear velocity, (3) separate capture and elution loss, and (4) size column/resin from a user-selected working DBC.
How to Use
① Enter resin volume, volumetric flow, feed-target concentration, and load volume. ② Add column diameter for linear velocity. ③ Add flowthrough target mass and elution-recovered mass to separate capture yield, overall recovery, and elution recovery. ④ Enter a DBC measured under relevant conditions plus a justified working percent and target mass to size resin. Supplier DBC is not automatically transferred across conditions.
Examples
Example) With 20 mL resin, 5 mL/min, and 400 mL feed at 2 mg/mL, residence=4 min, load=20 CV, target load=800 mg, and loading=40 mg/mL resin. DBC=50 mg/mL at 80% working use gives 40 mg/mL and requires 50 mL resin for 2,000 mg.
